SUBSTANCES THAT HEAT THE INTERIOR

  Substances that heat the interior

      Fu Zi (Radix Aconiti Carnichael Praeparata) - 3 to 15 g

      Gan Jiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Officinalis) - Ginger - 3 to 10 g

      Rou Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi Cassiae) - Cinnamon Bark - 2 to 5 g

      Wu Zhu Yu (Fructus Evodiae Rutaecarpae) - 1.5 to 5 g

       Xi Xin (Gerba Asari cum Radice) - 1 to 3 g

      Ding Xiang (Flos Caryophylli) - Clove - 2 to 5 g

      Xiao Hui Xiang (Fructus Foeniculi Vulgaris) - 3 to 8 g

   They warm the middle heater, strengthen the function of the spleen and stomach, expel cold, and relieve pain. They can also warm up, invigorate and restore yang.

   Substances that heat the interior and expel the internal cold are usually spicy and hot. Its syndromes are:

- Cold attack, stagnating the Yang Qi of the spleen and stomach, with symptoms of cold and epigastric and abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

- Weakness of Yang Qi and excessive accumulation of cold inside, with aversion to cold, cold limbs, paleness, greater urinary volume and clear, pale tongue with white coating and deep pulse.

  

   Warming substances are combined with other herbs according to specific conditions:

- Exogenous cold with exterior syndrome combine with herbs that release the exterior.

- Cold retention and Qi stagnation combine with Qi activators.

- Retention of cold and moisture in the spleen with spleen tonics and mist dispersers.

- Deficient Yang of the spleen and kidneys combine with substances that benefit the Qi and nourish the kidneys.

- Yang exhaustion and Qi depletion with herbs that strengthen primordial Qi.
