It originated in northern China, Moxibustão – Jiú (pinyin) literally means “long time of application of fire”, being considered a kind of thermal acupuncture, made by the combustion of the herb Artemisia Sinensis and Artemisia Vulgaris. The effect of moxa is similar to acupuncture, which works by stimulating acupuncture points to strengthen the circulation of Qi (energy) and blood.
