It treats morbid pathogens in cases of syndrome beyond the therapeutic range. In emergency cases  where an emetic or purgative function is needed. They act in cases of syndrome:

- semi superficial and semi internal to harmonize the shao yang.

- disharmony between spleen and liver

- disharmony between intestine and stomach.

   Remembering that we should not try to treat the shao yang disharmony syndrome in cases of extreme insufficiency.

1.HARMONIZING SHAO YANG

​

a) Xiao Chai Hu Tang  - This is one of the three half-superficial and half-internal syndromes. Here, shao yang disease is characterized by intermittent heat and chills, swollen pain in the hypochondral region, anorexia, anxious discomfort and constant nausea, bitter mouth and dry throat, dizziness, and blurred eyesight.

Tongue: thin white coating

Pulse: bowstring

   This formula soothes the liver and resolves depression covering a wide range of ailments.

b) Si Ni San  - It expels the pathogen and clears depression, smoothes the liver and regulates Qi. Resolves liver and spleen/pancreas qi stagnation with: cold hands and feet, pain in the chest and hypochondrium, watery diarrhea. Also used in emotional depression, anorexia, breast pain, irregular menstruation.

Tongue: red 

Pulse: bowstring.

   Also indicated to move Qi and blood and relieve pain; liver qi depression and blood stagnation due to  emotional depression.

C) Hao Qin Qing Dan Tang  - Freshens the gallbladder and expels moisture, adjusts the stomach and transforms mucus. This treats moist heat in the gallbladder and disharmony between the gallbladder and stomach with manifestations of: heat and chills (plus heat), nausea and vomiting, bitter mouth and acid regurgitation.

Tongue: red and greasy white coating

Pulse: fast and slippery.

2.HARMONIZING THE LIVER AND SPLICE

   They are applied in the syndrome of disharmony between the liver and the spleen.

​

a) Xiao Yao San  - Softens the liver, resolves depression, stimulates the spleen and nourishes the blood. Symptoms such as: pain in the hypochondria, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and throat, fatigued appearance and anorexia, fever and intermittent chills, irregular menstruation, pain in the breasts, PMS.

Tongue: red and pale

Pulse: bowstring and weak

b) Tong Xie Yao Fang  - Tones the spleen and purges the liver. Manifestations such as: bowel sounds and cramps, watery diarrhea preceded by pain and softened after diarrhea.

3. HARMONIZING THE STOMACH AND INTESTINE

​

   It is  formula  It's  used  to treat syndromes of disharmony between the stomach and intestine characterized by a mixture of heat and cold, failure of ascent and descent such as vomiting with  watery diarrhea and heaviness and fullness in the middle warmer.

The)  Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang - Disintegrates accumulation, removes weight nuisance, adjusts stomach and reverses regurgitation.

   This formula treats stomach inertia and heaviness associated with nausea, bowel sounds and diarrhea.

Tongue: Thin and greasy yellow.

   The condition of this formula treats symptoms of heat in the upper and cold in the lower such as nausea (or vomiting) and diarrhea with heaviness and tightness in the region below the heart.
